Microdermabrasion
What is Microdermabrasion Exfoliation
Microdermabrasion is mechanical exfoliation that removes the uppermost layer of dead skin cells from the face, chest and hands. For best results, it is recommended you get a series of treatments and use in conjunction with prescribed skin care products.
Microdermabrasion takes about 20-30 minutes and there's no down-time for the skin to recover. That's why it's also sometimes called a "lunchtime peel."

A Dead Cell Layer
Our skin is designed with a dead cell layer, known as the stratum corneum, which protects our skin from outside elements. These cells eventually slough off and are replaced as living cells die off. This layer, while serving a valuable function, can make the skin look aged and cause make-up to cake on. This will make our skin look even worse.
Improves Topical Products.
Microdermabrasion takes away the dead skin layer and stimulates the rest of the skin to reproduce and replace what was taken away. That creates a perfect canvas for your products to perform at their peak.
Acne
Microdermabrasion is very good at superficially exfoliating the skin's surface and removing debris which can contribute to acne.
Microdermabrasion for acne is best used in combination with topical treatments and antibiotics (if prescribed by Doctor).
Acne and Its Causes
Acne is a common problem facing millions of people. The problem begins within our skin as it naturally produces oil in our sebaceous gland. The bacteria which cause acne begin to metabolize the oil made by our sebaceous gland. The resulting metabolized oil is irritating to our skin. As the skin becomes increasingly irritated our hair follicles will become plugged and collect debris.
This debris then erupts down into the deeper layer of our skin, the dermis. This debris is an intruder in the dermis, a foreign body, which doesn't belong there. As a result our body attempts to get rid of this foreign body with an inflammatory response.
Penetration of Topical products Improved with Microdermabrasion Microdermabrasion can be helpful with acne, not only by removing some of the debris plugged in the follicles, but also to improve the efficacy of topical anti-acne treatments. By removing the skin's superficial protective layer, microdermabrasion aides the traditional acne medications by increasing their penetration into the skin.
Exfoliation is the process of removing these dead skin cells and debris and improving the superficial texture of the skin. This is precisely what microdermabrasion is designed to do. By taking off these dead cells the skin is exfoliated and a smoother, more youthful appearance can be seen.
Decrease Pigment, Increase Cell Turnover.
Decrease Pigment: Microdermabrasion helps increase cell turnover and decreases the amount of pigment which can be delivered to the skin cells which can help in an overall regimen for lightening the skin.
Age spots are blemishes on the skin's surface caused by excessive sun exposure. As we age our skin is subjected to increasing amounts of sun damage. This sun damage will materialize on our skin in a number of ways, including sun or 'age spots'. Age Spots' are those brown discolorations people often see on their face, hands, shoulders, chest and arms.
This is particularly the case for people who have spent a good amount of their lives in the sun. This hyperpigmentation, as it is also known, is the result of sun damage caused to the cells of the skin and is most common in lighter skinned people. Age spots are not caused by aging. If you are out in the sun a great deal, you will develop these brown spots more quickly than an older person who spends no time in the sun. Microdermabrasion Treatment can remove superficial dead skin cells helping to improve the look of age spots and partially lighten them.
